Session 1

The Energy the World Expects

In circumstances where energy security and global warming are increasingly recognized as global issues, this session will look at what the world wants in terms of energy. If nuclear energy is chosen, what will be the expectations for it? And if it is not chosen, what influence will that have? Looking at experiences and strategies elsewhere and the views of experts in other countries, we will identify what Japan should learn from them and what they suggest for Japan’s future energy strategy.

Session 2

Future Japan and Energy Issues

In this session, as a future picture for Japan emerges, the participants will discuss how to secure future energy sources in order to realize its future picture. Among fossil fuels, nuclear energy, renewable energies and more, why is nuclear power necessary? In addition to the 3Es (energy security, economic efficiency and environmental conservation), additional points of value will be identified through discussions among experts. This should be of considerable help in efforts to obtain the understanding of the people nationally.
