Referring to the Strategic Energy Plan (7th edition), approved by the government in February, which reaffirmed the role of nuclear power, the groups urged the restart of Unit 3 to ensure stable power supply, advance decarbonization, and support Hokkaido\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1335\" data-end=\"1530\">In July this year, the unit received a reactor installation license amendment from the Nuclear Regulation Authority, and Hokkaido Electric Power is aiming to restart the plant as early as 2027.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1532\" data-end=\"1839\">Separately, on 10 September in Tomari Village\u2014where the plant is located\u2014the village assembly received a petition from local chambers of commerce in four neighboring municipalities calling for the restart.
