All Four Japanese Students Win Medals at 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad

The four medalists were NAGATA Tomoki, a third-year student at Nada High School; HONDA Koki, a third-year student at Azabu High School; IRIYAMA Kanata, a second-year student at Kogyokusha High School; and SHIMOSAKI Koga, a second-year student at Hiroshima University High School. Nagata and Shimosaki won gold medals, while Honda and Iriyama received bronze medals.

INSO is an international competition established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to promote education in nuclear science. It brings together students under the age of 20 from the Asia-Pacific region. Japan’s four representatives departed for Jeddah on 1 August after completing a domestic selection process and training in preparation for the competition.

The committee supporting Japan’s participation in INSO plans to hold a debriefing session and a ceremony marking the conclusion of the Japanese team’s activities on 27 September at the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus.
